Cappello's, the makers of frozen-fresh, simple, real-ingredient foods, is updating its Sweet Potato Gnocchi and Almond Flour Spaghetti in multi-serve sizes at retailers nationwide. These pastas originally debuted last year as a limited test and received an extraordinarily positive consumer reaction. As a result of the fanfare, both products are now available at retailers across the U.S.

Giant Food, a leading greater Washington D.C. regional grocery chain, announced the expansion of its distribution warehouse in Jessup, Maryland, which serves all 163 Giant Food stores throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. The expansion will add over 95,000 square feet, a 23% increase in footprint, which will increase efficiency and add capacity for high-demand categories like organics, fresh produce, meat and seafood as well as other merchandise including fresh cut floral and seasonal products.

Lakeview Farms, a leading manufacturer of refrigerated desserts, dips, spreads and specialty products, is expanding its product selection with the launch of the Fresh Provisions brand. The plant-based dip line features five new products including savory and sweet plant-based dips. Fresh Provisions will be sold and merchandised in the produce section of grocery retailers.

The problem was discovered by Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. when they identified pieces of hard plastic in their production process and in a barrel of diced green chiles that was received from their ingredients supplier, Sun Valley Foods. Sun Valley Foods initiated a recall of the green chiles with the FDA. As more FDA information becomes available, FSIS will update this public health alert.

Tulkoff Food Products, one of the nation’s leading food manufacturers of condiments, specialty sauces, dressings and ingredients will expand its current U.S. manufacturing footprint with a new facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. This expansion responds to years of increasing demand and growth in the company’s private label and co-pack division of their business. 

The Refrigerated Foods Association (RFA) reports a collective donation of $8,000 to Feeding America during 2020’s National Deli Salad Month (July).  Member companies committed to donating both monetarily and with in-kind donations as a collective effort to combat hunger in their own communities.  Hands-on volunteer work was also encouraged. Their July fundraiser resulted in a total of $8,000 for Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization.   Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of food is also donated to local food banks each year by these businesses.

Graeter’s Ice Cream, known for its indulgent, handcrafted flavors, signature chocolate chips and Old World French Pot process, is celebrating 150 years of business with their annual introduction of Bonus Flavors. In all, four new Bonus Flavors will be released in Graeter’s scoop shops and online, with the third being Peanut Butter & Jelly. A secret that remains under lock and key until the day it’s released, guests will be made aware of the new flavors via broadcast media, social media, local scoop shops, the Graeter’s App and online store.

Tyson Foods announced Dean Banks will succeed Noel White as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while maintaining the role of President, effective October 3, 2020. White, who led Tyson through a period of unprecedented volatility and uncertainty when he assumed the CEO role in 2018, will remain with Tyson in a new role as Executive Vice Chairman of the board of directors.

Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) remains committed to doing the right thing by extending appreciation pay to Sept. 11 for its more than 14,000 retail and logistics employee-partners as a thank you for them doing their best every day to serve customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. This $1 more per hour is an extension of the pay increase that started March 24.
