Following its launch in Whole Foods Market nationally, NotMlk is now available at Sprouts, Wegmans, D’Agostino’s, Kings/Balducci’s, Harmons, New Seasons, Earth Fare, Bristol Farms, Rouses, Weis, Gelsons and more including the uptrend Imperfect Foods and vegan ecommerce site Vejii. The brand has expanded rapidly in the U.S. since its initial launch less than a year ago, signaling significant retailer and consumer appetite for a sustainable, plant-based milk that tastes like cow’s milk. NotMilk is currently available in 3,000 stores nationwide, and is aiming for distribution to 8,000 outlets by the end of 2021.

“As the plant-based category continues to grow, (NotMilk parent company) NotCo is in a unique position as our AI technology allows us to develop products across a variety of categories that are true replacements to animal-based foods,” says NotCo Founder and CEO Matias Muchnick. “We’ve been thrilled with the response from retailers across the country in both the natural and conventional channel as they immediately understand the advantage we’re bringing to the category. Shoppers know plant-based milk is better for the environment and want more sustainable options, but they also know this usually comes with a sacrifice in taste. With NotMilk we are here to change that.”

A first for the industry, NotMilk tastes and behaves like regular milk. It can be stirred, blended, cooked and frothed exactly like milk. The plant-based milk features an unexpected combination of ingredients – such as peas, pineapple and cabbage – and was designed by its AI chef, Giuseppe, to match regular milk almost to perfection. NotMilk comes in two varieties, Whole and 2% Reduced Fat, and the company says it will be soon expanding its portfolio. NotMilk’s sustainability footprint shows it uses 74% less energy, 92% less water and 72% less CO2 emissions than regular milk for its production.

NotCo’s patented AI technology creates plant-based foods that taste, cook, and behave just like their animal-based counterparts. The AI works by identifying components at the molecular level and replicating them using plant-based ingredients that result in products that taste, feel and function like the real thing. NotCo is the only global food tech company to disrupt massive food and beverage categories simultaneously, and already sells NotMilk, NotBurger, NotIceCream and NotMayo with operations in the U.S., Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia. It has become the largest and fastest-growing food tech company in Latin America in less than three years, driven by aggressive investment despite being relatively new to the industry. The five-year-old company is backed by well-known investment groups, including Bezos Expeditions, Enlightened Hospitality Investments, Kaszek Ventures, The Craftory, General Catalyst, Endeavor Catalyst, Indie Bio, Humboldt Capital, Maya Capital and more.
