Rosina Food Products Inc., Buffalo, N.Y., said it purchased the assets ofSan RalloItalian Specialties fromMitsui Foods Inc., a Norwood, N.J., food importer and distributor. Terms were not disclosed.
San Rallo processed foodservice frozen baked Italian entrees, eggplant, ravioli and specialty pastas at a facility in Dover, N.J. Officials said that site has been closed.
"We are excited about this transaction," said Russell Corigliano, Rosina president & CEO. "... These products are an excellent fit into Rosina's organizaiton and core capabilities. We anticipate a very smooth transition for San Rallo's customers, many of whom already have a strong sales relationship with Rosina."
Frank Corigliano is Rosina's executive vice president.
"The San Rallo organization has done an outstanding job serving [its] current customer base," he noted. "Rosina's logistics and exceptional service capabilities will quickly be put in place for the added benefit of our new customers. Rosina also looks forward to being able to present both our complete product line and technical service expertise to them as well.
Officials said Rosina is considering options to increase production at its West Seneca, N.Y., frozen pasta and entree facility. Options include installing San Rallo's former equipment in West Seneca.
Rosina processes frozen meatballs, sausage and pizza topping products in Cheektowaga, N.Y.; and frozen pasta, egglant and entrees in West Seneca. The company supplies customers in retail, foodservice, military and industrial channels.
