Schar to build gluten-free U.S. bakery
Northern Italy's Dr. Schar Srl opened Schar USA in 2007. The parent company's gluten-free line includes pastas, breads, cookies and crackers. Among its latest offerings are frozen, gluten-free Hearty White and Hearty Grain breads.
Attending U.S. ground-breaking ceremonies were Schar USA CEO Hannes Berger, President Donna George and Lorenz Kofler, executive director of production of Dr. Schär Srl. Officials said the new location will process a full line of 32 offerings and employ about 51 people.
