"All of the meat. None of the mystery." That's how organic and natural foods processor Applegate Farms, Bridgewater, N.J., talks about its offerings, including a new line of gluten-free chicken nuggets.
"Gluten intolerance doesn't just affect the nearly 3 million Americans who have been diagnosed with Celiac's disease; an estimated one in seven people is considered Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitive and they are sensitive to gluten, although they don't test positive for the disease," says Applegate Founder & CEO Steve McDonnell. "We have worked very hard to create a gluten-free option that is just as delicious as our other products that these consumers can trust for themselves and their children."
Applegate says its gluten-free chicken nuggets -- available since May -- are breaded with a savory blend of rice and corn flour. When baked, the crunchy coating provides "the perfect contrast" to tender farm fresh chicken.
