New Twist to Old Favorites

What’s old is new again for restaurant operators thanks to this assortment of snacks, appetizers and side dishes.

A new twist to pretzels
J&J Snack Foods Corp., Pennsauken, N.J., introduced a new twist to its SUPERPRETZEL brand. SuperTwists are a combination of soft pretzels and savory cheese fillings, available in Honey Chipotle, Fiery Pumpernickel and Jalapeno Ranch. Each pretzel is hand-twisted to create the perfect on-the-go snack or meal replacement. Meanwhile, Sweet Cinnamon Soft Pretzel Bites combine traditional soft pretzel dough with sugar and cinnamon bursts to create a tasty new way to enjoy traditional soft pretzels. Top with cinnamon and sugar or serve with an icing dip cup for a unique snack or sweet treat. And, Bavarian Soft Pretzels blend Old World Bavarian-style with traditional soft pretzels. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes such as braids or jumbo 24-ounce pretzels.

Sushi kits
King & Prince, Brunswick, Ga., now offers 34 half-sheets of nori (seaweed) packaged in its Sushi Bob product kits, offering a turn-key approach to rolling sushi with all necessary components. Sushi Bob is a line of sushi kits targeting non-commercial and college and university operators. The concept allows operators to prepare fresh sushi utilizing their current labor force, providing higher profits than hiring a sushi chef or purchasing frozen, commissary-sourced sushi. The kit contains freshly frozen seafood and freshly frozen pre-sheeted rice to yield exactly 32 sushi rolls per kit. Varieties include Smoked Salmon, Tuna, Tempura Shrimp, Imitation Crab and Lobster Sensations.

Stuffed bread snacks
Tyson Deli, a division of Tyson Foods, Springdale, Ark., provides deli operators with a way to gain incremental sales in the snack segment thanks to Tyson Deli Market Grand Openings snacks. These hand-held, microwaveable stuffed bread snacks come in Ham & Swiss, Chipotle BBQ and Italian Style Meatball & Mozzarella.

Signature sides
Blount Fine Foods, Fall River, Mass., offers “Signature Sides,” which include Chipotle Mashed Sweet Potatoes with Cranberries, Butternut Squash, Mac & Cheese with Smoked Bacon, Buffalo Style Chicken Mac & Cheese, Signature Mac & Cheese, Mashed Cauliflower with Cheddar Cheese, Creamed Spinach with Mushrooms, Organic Spiced Lentil & Chickpeas, Organic Kettle Black Beans, Organic Butternut Squash and Cinnamon Apple.
