Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch, Saranac, Mich., opened a cold storage warehouse in Chambersburg, Pa.

The more than $2 million facility will serve as an intermediate waypoint for eggs being delivered to East Coast customers, and added 11 employees to operate the warehouse and drive trucks.

“As we continue the process of expanding our family farm in Pennsylvania, purchasing a warehouse makes sense from a business perspective, and we are excited to continue making progress in close partnership with local leaders, business partners and community members,” says Greg Herbruck, president. “We are pleased to have a team of 11 local employees in place, and we are proud of the local investment we’ve made in the region. Following our purchase last fall of property near Mercersburg, [Pa.], this warehouse fills an important need as we finalize plans for construction of the egg farm.”

The cold storage facility was previously home to Vetter Forks, which relocated to another location in Chambersburg.

Herbruck’s also opened a regional office situated alongside the cold storage warehouse.

Rose Plummer was appointed regional project director. Plummer, who has worked with Herbruck’s to manage its Pennsylvania expansion plans for more than two years, will continue to oversee Pennsylvania operations and manage the expansion in Mercersburg, where Herbruck’s finalized an agreement to procure a farm.
