Morris Packaging celebrates its continued growth, after moving to a facility double the previous size in 2019, the company has grown to 125 employees--up from nine when it started in 2013.

“Despite the obvious challenges the whole country has faced, 2020 has still been a great year for us,” commented Steve Loethen, Plant Manager at Morris Packaging, Missouri. “Not only did we take advantage of our new much larger facility, but we also received some wonderful recognition. A highlight of this was winning the ‘Best Packaging Supplier 2020’ title from the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) who recognized our holistic approach for sustainability in flexible packaging.”

Morris Packaging did a thorough analysis of potential sites considering logistics, workforce needs, community status amongst other factors, before starting construction of a 30msf building in Jefferson City Missouri. in November of 2013. This structure was completed in May 2015. A warehouse was leased in January 2014, to provide a temporary home for the first two Hudson Sharp 750 bag lines which were installed in February of that year. Nine employees were hired to operate, maintain, and manage the operation. By the end of 2014 Morris Packaging in Jefferson City had twenty-four employees.

When the owned facility on Algoa Road was completed in May 2015, a new Totani SUP line was installed. In June, the two Hudson Sharp 750’s were moved from the rented warehouse and installed at this location. The third Hudson Sharp line was added in September along with an Inno-Lok line in November. An additional nine employees were added to the team in 2015.

2016 and 2017 were years of even more rapid growth for Morris Packaging. 2016 saw another Hudson Sharp Line, with 2017 adding an additional two more Hudson Sharp 750’s and a B&B quad line. The facility was expanded by 30msf and there were now 87 employees at the location.

In 2018, the rapid success continued. Two more Hudson Sharp 750’s were installed, while in 2018 another Inno-Lok line. The workforce grew to 115 by the year’s end. In 2019, the facility was expanded to double its size again to 120msf. Now with 125 employees on location.

According to the company, some of its most popular choices include Quad Seal Pouches; Stand Up Pouches; Fold and Glued Bottom Bags; Flat Bottom Bags; Rollstock; and much more.

It’s important to note that through all of this growth and expansion both in its facility and in the size of the Morris Packaging team, the company has worked hard to always maintain itself as a first in class workplace as it strives to enhance the community it serves. Morris Packaging has always taken every opportunity possible to give back to its community and to bring jobs to the area.
