Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., Jackson, Miss., signed a letter of intent to acquire substantially all of the assets of Foodonics International, Inc., doing business as Dixie Egg Co., as well as the Egg-Land’s Best, Inc. franchise.
Since 2011, McDonald’s USA has been purchasing more than 13 million cage-free eggs annually.

To meet consumers’ changing expectations and preferences, McDonald’s Corp., Oak Brook, Ill., announced plans to fully transition to cage-free eggs for its nearly 16,000 restaurants in the United States and Canada over the next 10 years.
The plant expansion adds approximately 28,000 square feet of egg processing capabilities and specialized equipment.
