Having spurned offers from Brazil's JBS and others, global food and beverage giant Sara Lee Corp., Downers Grove, Ill., announced last week that it would spin off the company's two major business units into separate public businesses.

A Pittsburgh, Pa., private equity firm, Main Street Capital Holdings LLC, purchased refrigerated foods processor  Harry’s Fresh Foods, Portland, Ore.

Refrigerated and frozen soups processor Kettle Cuisine said its Chelsea, Mass., plant earned Level 2 Safe Quality Food (SQF) Certification from the SQF Institute.

Conveyor supplier Dorner Manufacturing, Hartland, Wis., said Chief Operating Officer Rich Ryan was elected to the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) board of directors.
