Poultry Briefs: Just days after Sanderson Farms said it will delay plans for a new plant in North Carolina, Foster Farms, Livingston, Calif., said it will no longer build a poultry operation in northeastern Colorado. Officials cited the volatile commodities market and higher costs. . . Kentucky state officials said Rancho Poultry plans to build a $43 million, 100,000-square-foot plant in Lebanon, Ky. Officials said the operation will house at least two lines to cook and season up to 60 million pounds of chicken annually. Rancho is a joint venture partnership between McDonald's suppliers Keystone Foods and Lopez Foods. . . Perdue Farms Inc., Salisbury, Md., said it will lay off 76 workers connected with an IQF product line in Monterey, Tenn. The operation employs about 1,650 people and no other production lines would be affected, officials said.
