HORMEL FOODS CORP., Austin, Minn., said it expects by November 2009 to build a $89 million plant in Dubuque, Iowa, to process shelf-stable microwaveable meals. Groundbreaking for the 327,000-sq.-ft. operation is scheduled for this summer. . . . Meat industry media reported that RANCHLAND PACKING CO., Butte, Mont., asked permission to build a $13.5 million pork slaughter plant in Butte, capable of handling 1,000 pigs per day. . . .
