Case-ready meats processor Vantage Foods Inc., Calgary, AB, said it purchased a building and 13-acre site in Belleville, Ont., to process retail ready fresh meats for supermarkets in eastern Canada. Officials said they expect to open the new case-ready service center in November with an initial group of about 150 employees.
Refrigerated and frozen soup and seafood products supplier Blount Fine Foods, Fall River, Mass., said it will add a second production line at its Warren, R.I. plant. Officials said Blount is expanding production of bulk-size chowders and soups at the 25,000-square-foot facility, although most of the project will involve new equipment and interior renovation work.
