As part of a commitment to food safety, KeHE is proud to announce it has earned the Cold Carrier Certification, the first certification of its kind focused on excellence in refrigerated transportation. The Cold Carrier Certification program was initially piloted by several companies, including KeHE.

The 40th annual Refrigerated Foods Association (RFA) Conference was held at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, Florida, on February 23-26, 2020. The conference included timely presentations and outstanding networking opportunities and social events, including a service project that provided 400 kids’ packs for Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. 

Frozen seafood leader SeaPak Shrimp & Seafood Co. launches its newest innovation: SeaPak Shrimp Sea Pals. Containing 14 grams of protein per serving and no artificial preservatives or colors, the sea turtle and starfish-shaped shrimp bites are a good source of daily fiber and nutrients. Wrapped in a crunchy whole grain breading, SeaPak Shrimp Sea Pals are designed to encourage kids to eat the recommended two servings of seafood each week, as advised by the Dietary Guidelines for America.

Petaluma, California-based Amy’s Kitchen has launched a line of gluten-free veggie crust pizzas, the only pizzas available with organic ingredients and multiple vegetables. The new crusts feature organic cauliflower, organic sweet potato and organic broccoli, and the pizzas are topped with slow-simmered tomato sauce and mozzarella.

The sports nutrition market has become more mainstream, whilst dedicated gym goers and sports people may have seen products as purely functional, everyday consumers want sports nutrition products that they can easily incorporate into everyday routines. Consumers are taking a more proactive, holistic and long-term approach to health. This means that there is a significant opportunity for brands of nutritious, “better-for-you” products to target these consumers. Sara Lee Frozen Bakery has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Spokane, Washington-based pie maker Cyrus O’Leary’s Pies. The transaction is the latest in a series of initiatives at Sara Lee Frozen Bakery aimed at growing its presence in the in-store bakery (I.S.B.) category, which began last August with the acquisition of Superior Cake Products, Inc.
