October 11, 2023

Walmart today announced plans to open and operate a milk processing facility in Valdosta, Georgia. The facility will create nearly 400 new jobs and once opened will serve more than 750 Walmart and Sam’s Club stores in the region with high-quality milk.

Walmart says the effort will help ensure resiliency in its supply chain.

The company announced the facility in a blog post authored by Bruce Heckman, cice president, Manufacturing, Private Brands, and Tyler Lehr, senior vice president of GMM Chilled, Adult Beverage and Convenience.

The $350 million facility will open in 2025. Once opened, the facility will create milk products using ingredients sourced from local farmers throughout the Southeast region under Walmart’s Great Value and Members Mark brands.

This continues Walmart’s supply chain investments, which include opening the company’s first case-ready beef facility in Thomasville, Georgia,  as well as, equity investments and long-term commercial agreements with rancher owned Sustainable Beef LLC and vertical farming company Plenty.
