Ruiz Food Products, Inc., the largest frozen Mexican food manufacturer in the United States, announced the opening of a new, on-site health center for insured team members and their covered family members at the company’s Denison, Texas plant, replacing an existing off-site facility. Ruiz Foods also opened a similar on-site clinic at the Florence, South Carolina plant in early November and has plans for another on-site clinic at the Dinuba, California location in early 2024.

The Ruiz Foods Health Center operated by CareATC will provide insured team members and their covered family members with access to primary care, including lab tests and chronic health services at no additional cost. The health center will be staffed by a physician, physician’s assistant, nurse practitioner and two medical assistants.

“The Ruiz Foods family values the significance of on-site healthcare and the convenience it offers our team members without extra expenses or co-pays,” said Matt Ruiz, Ruiz Foods director of corporate and community relations and son of co-founder, Fred Ruiz. “While our former near-site health center was helpful to our team members, the added convenience of this new on-site health center is a perfect reflection of our values as a family-owned company that deeply cares for our team members.”

“National research shows on-site health centers help improve the health of team member while, at the same time, lowering the overall cost of care,” said Kimberli Carroll, Ruiz Foods chief operating officer. “Ruiz Foods team members appreciate that our health centers intentionally schedule longer appointments than standard clinics. This allows our healthcare professionals more time to address questions and enhance the overall health of our team members.” Carroll noted that the Ruiz Foods Health Center operated by CareATC will have extended hours two days a week to accommodate team members working second and third shifts at the Denison plant.

The Ruiz Foods Health Center opened on November 20.
