Cold Logistics: ConAgra, Unilever, Nordic in the news
Pallet and container pooling solutions provider CHEP USA, Orlando, Fla., said it signed a multi-year contract for pallet pooling services with diversified foods giant ConAgra Foods, Omaha, Neb. Officials say ConAgra will use CHEP pallets to ship products from all consumer divisions to supermarkets, club stores, wholesalers and mass merchants throughout the United States. The agreement affects such frozen brands as Healthy Choice, Marie Callender's, Banquet and Alexia.
Nordic Cold Storage LLC, Atlanta, said its Rockmart, Ga., distribution center was named "Frozen Food Facility of the Year" from ice cream and frozen entrees giant Unilever United States. The Englewood Cliffs, N.J., company processes Breyers, Good Humor and Ben & Jerry's ice creams and markets frozen multi-serve entrees such as Bertolli.
Nordic said Unilever presents two annual warehouse awards: one honoring a dry operation and another recognizing a temperature-controlled site. Officials say the award is based on three criteria: key performance indicators, cost containment and overall commitment to customer service.
"This award can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of our entire Rockmart Team", said Chris Austin, general manager for Nordic Rockmart.
