Although they may be eating at home, consumers haven't lost an appetite for restaurant-style seafood. That's why High Liner Foods Inc., Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, says it developed Pan-Sear Selects, a new line of frozen premium seafood entrees.

Senior Brand Manager Katherine Brouillard said many consumers eat fish in restaurants but are intimidated by the idea of cooking fish from scratch. Pan-seared fish is a common restaurant cooking method, and having the ability to replicate this at home with ease is attractive to consumers.

Varieties include Mediterranean Wild Pacific Salmon, Lemon Pepper Sole and Roasted Garlic & Herbs Haddock. High Liner says the new entrees contain no trans fats or hydrogenated oils, are low in saturated fats and are a good source of Omega-3 polyunsaturates.

Brouillard noted that High Liner developed Pan-Sear Selects packaging with Anthem Worldwide, Toronto.

Said Brouillard, "Anthem worked very closely with High Liner to gain an understanding of its brand heritage and visual equities to create a well proportioned clean package design that expresses the look and taste of restaurant-inspired cuisine. When a design direction was approved and validated by consumer research, Anthem engaged the expertise of Schawk to ensure the execution of this new premium line and guarantee our vision would become a reality."

Anthem is a strategic design unit of Schawk Inc., a brand consulting and strategic development company based in Des Plaines, Ill.
