Eriez, Erie, Pa., introduced ProGrade Model B Ferrous Traps, designed to provide unmatched protection for liquid lines and sensitive processing equipment such as pumps. How it works is, these traps remove small particles of magnetic scale, rust and fine iron contamination to ensure ultimate product purity.

ProGradeModel B Ferrous Traps are available in Rare Earth—designed to remove small ferrous contaminants such as pins, brads and clips—and Xtreme Rare Earth—best at removing weakly magnetic fine ferrous contamination—designs.  

These powerful separators remove ferrous contamination from liquid products flowing through 2-, 3- and 4-inch pipelines. The magnetic element—consisting of a group of magnetic tubes—is arranged to cause the material flow entering the body to impinge against the tubes and filter through the magnetic field, completely covering the open area. This configuration takes advantage of the material change in direction and the difference in inertia between the unwanted iron and the material carrying it. The magnetic circuit is designed so the entrapped iron will have a tendency to work around and cling to the downstream side of the tubes. This action prevents iron particles from being washed off by the continuous flow of material. 

Model B Ferrous Traps feature all 316L stainless-steel construction and glass bead surface finish. They are designed for product and clean-in-place temperatures up to 250°F and can withstand pressure up to 150 psi.
