Vegetable Processors Join Forces to Better Service Foodservice Industry
Canada-based Urban Barns Foods Inc. signed a memorandum of understanding with Bamford Produce Company Ltd., also based in Canada, for the purpose of establishing a collaborative business relationship between the two businesses.
The agreement states that Bamford will serve as the primary and preferred distributor of all Urban Barns products in the entire province of Ontario and designated parts of Eastern Canada, excluding Ottawa, Ontario.
Through their association, the focus of the relationship will be to service and expand the existing business and clientele of Bamford's (distributor) with the products of Urban Barns (producer), and in particular to supply participants in the upscale foodservice industry, including 4- and 5-star hotels, restaurants and catering companies.
"We are very pleased to expand our reach into Canada's largest market,” says Richard Groome, president and CEO of Urban Barns. “With over 130 years of experience, Bamford's Produce is the perfect fit in helping us provide consistent, healthy and fresh vegetables year-round."
"We are thrilled to partner with Urban Barns in the effort to provide our foodservice clients with locally grown, fresh, healthy and delicious vegetables. Urban Barns' innovative method of growing their produce without GMOs or pesticides aligns with our focus on sustainability and resource conservation. We look forward to a long-lasting and successful partnership," adds Benoit Lecavalier, president of Bamford Produce.
