Scalable Pulsed Electric Field Pilot System

Diversified Technologies, Inc., Bedford, Mass., introduced a scalable pulsed electric field (PEF) pilot system for pasteurizing juices, lysing algae cells and extracting compounds from plant materials.

This fully integrated pilot system is suitable for R&D, batch testing and process development of up to 100 liters per hour. It also can be scaled into a process production system for low-volume, high-value products.

Providing 5 log pathogen kill, this PEF system features PLC controls that let users apply pulsed electric fields over a wide range of products and treatment conditions.
