Seaboard Triumph Foods constructs new food processing facility

February 4, 2016

Seaboard Triumph Foods, the Shawnee Mission, Kan.-based joint venture between Seaboard Foods and Triumph Foods, LLC, announced plans to construct a new, 750,000-square-foot food processing facility, designed to process more than 3 million market hogs annually operating a single shift and employing approximately 1,100 employees.

The plant will be built on property in the Bridgeport West Industrial Park in Sioux City, Iowa, located north of the Sioux Gateway Airport. Site work began in September 2015, and construction is expected to be completed by July 2017.

"I am excited to begin this rare and exciting challenge with Seaboard Triumph Foods, and look forward to building an outstanding team and establishing a permanent company presence in the Sioux City community,” says Mark Porter, the company’s new chief operating officer. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lead the growth of a new, modern and efficient pork plant, which will certainly have a significant impact on the entire pork industry. I am thrilled to be part of the Seaboard Triumph team, whose ownership is highly respected throughout the meat industry."
