PROCESSING-TO-PACKAGING SOLUTION FOR GROUD MEAT
The Reiser Flex-Line is a ground meat processing-to-packaging solution for the high-speed, high-volume production of portioned loaves, patties and meatballs. The Flex-Line system starts with a Vemag HP-E Series portioner, which features a positive displacement double-screw pump that transports product without smearing. The next part of the system is the “flex” equipment, which includes the Vemag MMP ground meat former, the Vemag FM250 patty former and the Vemag BC236 meatball former. Each of these machines quickly and easily roll in and out of the line, so that processors can conduct fast changeovers from one portion size to another. After the ground meat product is portioned and formed, it is conveyed to the inline Vemag Process Check, where portion weights are checked and confirmed. The final step is the packaging. Smart conveyors move the ground meat product from the Process Check to the packaging system, which consists of either the Repak horizontal form-fill-seal packaging machine for vacuum packaging or the Ross Tray Sealer for MAP packaging.

BAGGING SYSTEM WITH DUAL-ARMED ROBOT
Automated Packaging Systems partnered with ABB to integrate the Autobag 500 bagging system with ABB’s YuMi robot, a dual-armed robot designed to work side-by-side with humans. Using advanced motion control and camera-based parts location, the YuMi picks and places products into pre-opened bags, which are then automatically sealed and dispensed by the Autobag 500. For full automation, the system’s small footprint and easy set-up seamlessly dovetails into the existing packaging line. This robot includes built-in sensors that instantly halt all motion if the unit bumps a person or other object, which eliminates the need for cages and safety zones. The Autobag 500 bagger is an automatic filling and sealing machine capable of cycling at rates up to 100 bags per minute.

FILLERS FOR VFFS MACHINE, VACUUM FORMERS
Hinds-Bock offers high-quality liquid and moist particulate fillers. Models SP-64 and SP-160 are used over vertical form-fill-seal machines, and feature a long reach positive shutoff spout with an adjustable blow-off feature to maintain a clean seal zone and accurate fills. Models 2P-64 and 3P-32 are used over horizontal vacuum formers, and feature positive shutoff spouts for difficult applications such as agitated hoppers, diving spouts, traveling spouts and heated or cooled machines.

WASHDOWN HORIZONTAL CARTONER FOR FROZEN FOODS
PMI Cartoning announced a new washdown horizontal cartoner for frozen foods. Designed and built to FDA sanitary requirements, this system features IP67-compliant construction and heavy-duty, stainless-steel solid bar construction. The all-servo design boasts Allen-Bradley multi-axis Kinetix servos, allowing for maximum uptime, quick changeovers and simple operation. Operator-friendly controls from Rockwell Automation include ControlLogix and AB PanelView Plus HMI. With the ability to run multiple carton sizes and various speeds from hand-load up to 160 cartons a minute, this system is ideal for contract packagers and large food producers of dairy products, such as ice cream and frozen novelties and other frozen foods such as pizza and finger foods.
