Landec Corp., Menlo Park, Calif., announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Apio, Inc., Guadalupe, Calif., acquired Yucatan Foods, L.P, Los Angeles.

This acquisition adds Yucatan Foods’ Yucatan and Cabo Fresh guacamole brands to Landec’s portfolio of 100% clean ingredient, plant-based brands, including Eat Smart packaged fresh vegetables and salad kits, Now Planting pure-plant meal solutions and more.

The move also advances Landec’s position from a packaged, fresh vegetable business to a branded, natural foods business focused on plant-based foods with 100% clean ingredients.

Yucatan brand guacamole offers traditional, authentic Mexican taste, sold in the deli section of grocery retail stores. The Cabo Fresh brand targets plant-forward food consumers, with unique blends of fresh ingredients and bold flavors from regions around the world, available in the produce section.
