Hormel has rolled out their new pretzel bites and cheese tray, an addition to the Hormel Gatherings line that capitalizes on the growing snack trend, an increase in home-based working and schooling, and the move to smaller get-togethers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. This innovation is the first of its kind for pretzels and complementing cheese cup to be sold in the refrigerated section of the deli.

America’s favorite protein breakfast brand[1], Jimmy Dean, is bringing breakfast lovers two new breakfast favorites in the form of warm, poppable bites. New Jimmy Dean Loaded Sausage Bites and Jimmy Dean Omelet Minis are made with premium, signature seasoned Jimmy Dean breakfast meats, real eggs and cheese and are served in a convenient single-serve cup, ready to enjoy in seconds at home or on-the-go.

Dole Foods has opened a new state-of-the-art frozen fruit facility in McDonough, Georgia, Dole's third frozen fruit facility in the United States, complimenting the existing operations in Atwater, California, and Decatur, Michigan. The new facility is approximately 60,000 square feet, fully automated and will have four manufacturing lines which when at capacity can produce 60 million pounds of frozen fruit annually. The operations will package frozen fruit for Dole's retail, food service and private label customers on the east coast.

Foodservice shutdowns due to the pandemic led to an 11.8% decrease in net sales and an 18.9% decrease in gross profit for 2020.

Hope Foods has expanded its popular Cashew & Almond Dip line with the release of its new Vanilla Bean flavor. Tyson Foods and Malayan Flour Mills Berhad (MFM) announced a partnership in which Tyson Foods will invest in the Malaysia-based company’s vertically integrated poultry business, which will add more supply flexibility for both companies. The transaction is subject to approval by the shareholders of Malayan Flour Mills Berhad, amongst others.

Process engineering group GEA and Israeli foodtech start-up Better Juice have joined forces to help beverage manufacturers produce healthier, lower-sugar fruit juice. Better Juice has developed a groundbreaking solution that naturally reduces the amount of sugar in fresh juice by up to 80 percent, without affecting its nutritional value or taste. GEA is now engineering the process technology the start-up needs, setting this innovative solution on course for industrial production.

US Foods acquired Smart Foodservice Warehouse Stores in April 2020 to accelerate growth in the cash and carry market. This change will combine the power of the US Foods brand with the assortment, pricing and customer service of Smart Foodservice Warehouse Stores and pave the way for an enhanced customer experience.
