Italian Cheese Processor Reduces Packaging Weight of Private Label
Italian manufacturer Gruppo Francia reduced the packaging weight of Aldi’s private label Cucina mozzarella cheese by half after switching to the SuperLight pot from RPC Superfos, Denmark.
The Batavia, Ill.-based supermarket giant expressed lighter packaging and reduced carbon footprint as top priorities for sourcing a new pack. The SuperLight pot is said to be less than half the weight of its predecessor, meaning a significant reduction of the total costs for the packaging. SuperLight is made from polypropylene, therefore it is easier to recycle. It also can be decorated using in-mold labeling to deliver a high-quality image.
