Nature Fresh Farms is expanding its operations in Delta, Ohio, increasing their organic acreage as well as a plans to build a new distribution center. The property expansion will include doubling the greenhouse acreage from the current 45 acres to 90, with the future extension to be dedicated to year-round organics. This new greenhouse allows the company to expand organics program using state of the art tech to grow tomatoes and peppers throughout the year.

Martha Stewart Kitchen (MSK) in conjunction with Marquee Brands and MSK Foods, is expanding the distribution of MSK frozen dishes to over 10,000 retail stores nationwide. The brand launched last December regionally in grocery outlets throughout the Northeast and Midwest, with 24 core products.

Smithfield Foods is donating 40,000 pounds of protein to New Orleans via a truck shipment to support hunger relief in the wake of catastrophic damage inflicted by Hurricane Ida, one of the most intense hurricanes to ever strike Louisiana, which left nearly a million residents without power or water on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Weigel’s Foundation has donated $10,000 to Street Hope TN’s annual fund-raising campaign. The sponsorship donation was presented by Kurt Weigel, Human Resources for Weigel’s, and Meg Weigel Kwasigroch, Kurt’s sister. Accepting the donation on behalf of Street Hope TN was Devin Payne, Executive Director.

Tyson Foods announced it would strengthen the benefits it offers its fully vaccinated U.S. frontline team members. Effective January 1, 2022, fully vaccinated team members can begin earning up to 20 hours of paid sick leave per year. New hires will also receive one week of vacation after six months of employment.

Revol Greens’ national growth strategy continues with the inaugural planting at its recently completed greenhouse in Tehachapi, California. Saputo has completed the acquisition of the Carolina Aseptic and Carolina Dairy businesses formerly operated by AmeriQual Group Holdings. These businesses, which join Saputo’s Dairy Division (USA) under its USA Sector, are conducted at two facilities in North Carolina and employ approximately 230 people. The purchase price of US$118 million (approximately CDN$149 million), on a cash-free and debt-free basis, was paid in cash at closing.
