CRYOGENIC TUNNEL FREEZER

The Freshline IQ freezer from Air Products is a new cryogenic tunnel freezer designed for increased efficiency, economy and hygiene, and offers continuous high throughput for a broad range of products with easy cleanup. The Freshline IQ freezer’s heat transfer capability enables vaporized liquid nitrogen (or CO2) to be dispersed optimally throughout the tunnel, which translates to the shortest freezer required to cool or freeze product. Based on 10-foot modular units that can be quickly and easily integrated into an existing production line, the Freshline IQ freezer can be expanded on-site to grow with increasing production needs. The new freezer also features large openings to provide easy access for simpler cleaning and sloped surfaces to eliminate standing water. An optional remote monitoring system, enabled by the Industrial Internet of Things, enables users to track real-time variables or remotely troubleshoot issues to ensure optimization of the system.

COMPRESSORS FOR LOW- TO MEDIUM-TEMPERATURE REFRIGERATION-TYPE APPLICATIONS

compressors

Emerson released three additional models to its Copeland Scroll KA compressor lineup—ZF06KA and ZS20KA, which will be available in the spring, and ZF09KA, which will be available in the fall. ZS*KA models are intended for extended medium-temperature refrigeration-type duty, such as walk-in and reach-in coolers and frozen carbonated beverage-type applications. It also is said to operate 8-22% more efficiently than standard reciprocating compressors with 70% fewer moving parts. ZF*KA models are intended for low-temperature refrigeration-type duty, such as walk-in and reach-in freezers in supermarkets, restaurants and convenience stores. ZF*KA models are wide-ranging, multi-refrigerant capable with lower sound and vibration.

LOW-CHARGE AMMONIA CONDENSING UNITS

ammonia condensing units

Azane launched Azanefreezer 2.0, a new generation of low-charge ammonia condensing units for cold storage warehousing and food processing. This low-charge, air-cooled system reduces running costs even further than its predecessor, and is said to reduce ammonia charge by up to 96% compared to traditional ammonia systems. Plus, Azanefreezer 2.0 comes standard with Ethos, Star Refrigeration’s refrigeration plant performance optimization and energy monitoring system.

SMART CONTROLS FOR REACH-IN REFRIGERATORS, FREEZERS

Smart Controls

Traulsen debuted its next-generation Smart Control system on all R-Series and A-Series reach-in refrigerators and freezers. Designed with an easy-to-read and operate digital display, Smart Control is built on custom software, developed to maximize efficiency, provide sophisticated system diagnostics and simplify the operator interface. Replacing the Intela-Traul control system, Smart Control adds advanced diagnostics and environmental sensors, and is equipped with several critical alarms, including a power failure alarm that identifies time of the power failure, time when power was restored and cabinet temperature at restart.

EVAPORATIVE & ADIABATIC CONDENSERS

adiabatic condensers

Baltimore Aircoil (BAC) introduced the Vertex Evaporative Condenser, which boasts what is said to be the largest access door and walkway on an evaporative condenser in the industry. Due to the industrial-grade rigidity of the unit, the Vertex Evaporative Condenser’s upper section can be aligned to the lower section in less than 15 minutes per cell, thereby reducing reducing water volume by up to 30% and reducing the operating weight by an average of 16%. Vertex also uses a direct-drive electronically commutated fan system. BAC also introduced the TrilliumSeries Adiabatic Condenser, which combines the best of wet and dry cooling to offer up to 44% energy savings compared to a traditional air-cooled condenser and up to 90% water savings while still saving energy. The TrilliumSeries includes models up to 215 nominal tons to accommodate a wide variety of industrial and commercial applications. In addition, users can minimize carbon emissions with natural CO2 cooling in any climate.

OIL-FREE AIR COMPRESSOR

Oil-free air compressor

Atlas Copco Compressors introduced the new ZR 90-160 VSD+ (120-200HP) oil-free air compressor, delivering what is said to be an average of 12% energy savings compared to the previous generation. Ideal for food and beverage applications, the water-cooled ZR 90-160 VSD+ is equipped with two high-efficiency permanent magnet motors, state-of-the-art compressor elements and a redesigned monitoring system. The drive design incorporates Atlas Copco’s most sophisticated variable speed drive technology, and the dual motor concept allows automatic variable synchronization of the independently driven airends. The ZR 90-160 VSD+ is also available with an integrated MDG rotary drum dryer, providing a pressure dew point of -40°F at almost zero energy cost. Plus, the ZR 90-160 VSD+ is equipped with the Elektronikon Mk5 Touch Controller to optimize system pressure and maximize energy efficiency.
